A doll line based on Gwen Stefani was produced by Huckleberry Toys, and released from 2006 to 2008.
The first series of dolls was released in the fall of 2006 and replicated looks from Stefani’s “Love. Angel. Music. Baby.” album campaign, with four dolls based on Stefani herself as well as four based on her group of backing dancers, the Harajuku Girls (Maya Chino, Jennifer Kita, Rino Nakasone and Mayuko Kitayama). According to toymania.com, Stefani said of the line, “I thought the dolls would be a good opportunity to capture some of the key looks from the album and the tour,” adding that “The Harajuku Girls and I wore such wicked costumes we had to share them with the world again. The dolls are another dimension to the album and the tour, another layer to the world of Love. Angel. Music. Baby,”
The second series of dolls, based on Stefani’s “The Sweet Escape” album campaign, started with two exclusive dolls in 2007 – one to be sold on The Sweet Escape tour, and another for that year’s San Diego Comic Con International. The main release of Series 2 would comprise of seven dolls, released in 2008. A third series of dolls based on outfits from Stefani’s The Sweet Escape tour was displayed at 2008’s New York Toy Fair, but would never be released.
