Little Bo Peep has lost her sheep,
And doesn’t know where to find them.
Leave them alone,
And they’ll come home,
Bringing their tails behind them.
Once there was a pretty shepherdess who watched over her sheep as they grazed in the countryside. But one day, she couldn’t find them. They had disappeared and she had no idea where they were.
Little Bo Peep was so sad she couldn’t think of anything but her lost sheep. When she slept, she dreamed she heard them, “Baaa Baaa”. And when she awoke, she sadly found it was only a dream.
Determined to find her beloved sheep, Bo Peep picked up her crook (staff) and searched everywhere. Finally, she saw them grazing in a field. But when she got closer, she discovered they’d left their tails behind them!
“Naughty little sheep”, she said, waving her finger at them, as she led them home. “Now, I have to find your tails, and heaven only knows where you left them!”
One day, just by chance as she was going through a meadow, Bo Peep saw them hanging on a tree. “Now, who ever heard of tails growing on trees?” she thought to herself. So she quickly gathered them up and took them home to put back on her sheep.
