This is not a review or anything like that. But I do ramble a lot. If you want a proper review, please consider checking out XCanadensis’s video on them .
Hello Dollect! I just wanted to do a quick (…) post sharing my experience with my first Nendoroid doll. Who just so happened to be the ever lovey Kitagawa Marin from the anime/manga , My Dress-up Darling!
I know it’s definitely not for everyone, but I personally really love the series a lot, and I am currently caught up with the manga. I really love a lot of things about the series, but like basically everyone who has seen/read it, Marin herself is definitely the highlight.
I have been interested in Nendoroid Dolls since they were first announced. Especially since the appeared to be a worthy oponent to the Cu-Poche Friends action dolls by Kotobukiya (I hope to eventually get one of those one day as well).
But I also noticed that they also seemed to pop up after it became popular people started making Cu-Poche and Nendoroid Hybrids, along with the ever loved , “Obitsuroid” (Nendoroid heads on Obitsu 11/OB11 bodies).
Both of these things I personally find very fascinating. But I never got around to getting/making anything. As I was personally content with just my default Nendoroid’s.
I have preordered Nendoroid dolls a few times over the years. But I always ended up canceling them do to me either not being interested in the particular doll anymore, or I had other purchases I wanted to prioritize.
The latter was actually the case with the Marin I am mentioning today. I preordered her and was super exited, but as a anime doll/figure collector, I have the curse of needing to prioritize which items I will go though with ordering for the month. I don’t remember which month it was in particular, but Marin was in a more spendy month for me, and as much as I didn’t want to, I decided to cancel her…
But I few days ago, I noticed that she was on Amazon (USA) for retail price with prime shipping. She was either sold out or had an inflated price everywhere else. I also knew that she doesn’t (at the time of writing this) have any bootlegs/fakes like her regular Nendoroid does. So I decided to get her , fully expecting her box to be damaged or something.
But somehow I got lucky and her box was pristine! I forgot to take a picture of it, but I was way to exited to open her up, and I had other things to do, so I kind of rushed to opening her as soon as I could.
Despite her being dressed up in these photos, the doll comes packaged without her clothing and jewelry, as those are packed separately in her box.
she came the the following
– School Uniform Top
– School Uniform Skirt
– Underwear
– Socks
– Shoes
– Necklace
– Black bracelet
– Silver bracelet
– Magnetic stand with 2 alternate stand support option
With that out of the way, here she is!
I recently got the Loyal Subjects Strawberry Shortcake doll as well, and mine came with such a cute lunch box, that I had to take a picture of it with Marin. I feel like she would think it is cute as well.
But speaking of Strawberry…
I just had to see how the would look next to each other !
Strawberry is probably closer to the size of an Obitsuroid, but I kind of wonder if her outfit would fit Marin…. I will probably do that another time, and I will post it on Instagram if I do.
Marin is a hardcore fangirl at heart, and she loves cosplay and fashion, but I would say she loves the people(?) behind it even more. And I couldn’t help but think that if this doll/character existed in her universe, that Marin would be absolutely obsessed with her. And that is none other then…

LARVIE
Marin is definitely a Larvie fangirl in this household. It’s already a headcanon of mine now that Marin would want/own a Larvie doll. It just feels right for her in my opinion.
But Yeah. If you have a Larvie or Nendo doll and have/plan to get the other. I personally think they look pretty nice together! The proportions are actually not that different either. Minus Larvie’s fabulous squirminess obviously.
I hope that my rambling wasn’t incoherent or anything if you read it. But if you came just to see the pictures, I hope you enjoyed them!
Thanks for reading!
Also just wanted to mention that the Loyal Subjects Strawberry Shortcake outfit does fit her! The tights are bit long, but with bigger shoes, you wouldn’t notice.
