Hello hello! It has been a hot minute Dollect, but it’s good to see you again! I hope you’re having a cozy autumn! Before falling into fall, summer had one last surprise for me, and I’m enjoying it thoroughly as we speak. Here’s the story:
My grandparents are both incredibly skilled when it comes to building and restoring furniture. They don’t do it a lot anymore, but this year my grandfather was building a new dresser for my grandma, and a lot of us who were visiting got to help. It’s no secret that I’m a crafty gal, but this was a lot of new territory for me. That said, one afternoon while I was out, my grandpa made the drawer fronts, and there was a wrong measurement somewhere in the mix. Happens to the best of us, there’s your reminder to measure twice and cut once. XD So now we had a bunch of drawer fronts that we didn’t know what to do with. So I asked if I could turn them into a shelf. Grandpa, my brother-in-law, and I proceeded to build it together. I got to use an orbital sander for the first time, it was GREAT! XD I have dreamed of having a dedicated shelf for my dolls for a long time now, and the fact that this was made with people I love means so much. Thanks again fellas, you’re the best. <3 So now this piece lives on top of my desk. I love it so much! I was tempted to paint it, but I realized that the paint was likely to chip a lot given what I wanted to do, so for now I’m enjoying it as-is.
Our top of the display is currently dedicated to the scariest thing I love. XD I’m a huge fan of indie mascot horror games, but my favorite of all is Bendy and the Ink Machine. My very first custom doll was Twisted Alice Angel (she’s the one with the giant bow, deformed half of her face, and the halo sticking out of her head), though this is a remake of her since the original didn’t hold up. I have the dolls in order of their appearance in the games, with a fan interpretation of Henry on the far left and a fan character (Belphene) on the far left. These are kind of the thing I’m known for in the Bendy community, mostly because I’m one of the few people (but far from the only person) to make dolls based on this world. I love it dearly, and every year when I take them out, I’m reminded of just how much fun I had making them. Joey, the fellow in the vest on the right there, is especially fun, given I got to share the process with my friend, Dave Rivas, who voices the character. XD
It was also really nice to display my figures, I don’t usually do that. I’m not really a funko pop collector, this is pretty much most of my collection, the others are like, Tron themed Kingdom Hearts characters.I really love the Searcher and the Projectionist, they’re the best ones of the set. XD But the new figures by Jakks Pacific have been fantastic. I’m not big on figured, but having Sammy and Tom in this form has been such a treat. XD I have a feeling this is a little niche, but if you guys ever wanna discuss Bendy, please feel free to tap my shoulder, I’d love to geek out together.
Down here might be a little bit more tailored to the people who collect on here. XD So a while back I got that one Rainbow High playset that came with Skyler for half off, the one intended to be her fashion design supplies? I wanted to use it as a desk for my mini me doll, that way she has a drafting table like I do for making my customs. XD I love a lot of the pieces, but I also wanted to include some other ones. Like Neon Frights Draculaura’s laptop, a Barbie teacup I found thrifting, a Disney ILY 4Ever cupcake, and my lego Sammy Lawrence, because of course. XD I think she deserves some “dolls for dolls”, which is also why Confetti Carnivale is here for now. Really glad I decided to add some fairy lights overhead so that it’s easier to see in here.
I’m not someone who typically used doll furniture, because I never have space for it, but now I have a dedicated spot for it, and I love it! So Fairy Kat here can visit with her fellow dolls on the couch. XD I’ve been swapping them out a lot this month. For a little bit it was Dot Dead Gorgeous Spectra and the core Skelita, who I’ve been working on restoring (Skelita has some bad glue seepage, we’ve gone through four rounds of oxiclean treatment, I might need to switch to goo gone). Right now though, it’s Jacy Masters and Twyla. Jacy is by far my FAVORITE of the Wild Hearts Crew, I’m so sad that line didn’t have long to shine, it was by far my favorite thing to release before G3 MH came out. I’ve never felt so seen in a doll brand before her. Twyla, very similar story, I feel very seen with her. While the way G3’s cartoon airs has made it hard for me to see in full, I love Twyla’s character. I’m autistic, and autistic representation in media has never really let me feel included. If anything, lots of the time it’s relatively insulting. Twyla though, she hits different. She doesn’t feel like me in full, but she feels like autistic people I know, and she’s become so near and dear to my heart. Honored to have her as my first autistic doll. She’s enjoying the plushies in my space. XD My cousin very graciously crocheted me this ace flag themed octopus and the Mario mushroom, and I love them so much, so naturally they must go with some of my other favorite things.
Thanks for popping in to read! Here’s wishing you all a wonderful day, a wonderful weekend, and so much joy in the near future!
So cool! I love bendy.
Thank you! ^^ Heck yeah! I wasn’t expecting this to resonate with anyone in the doll world, but I’m glad it has. Bendy is so fun.
