1994 Kelly (Open Mouth)
Kelly Roberts was introduced in 1995 as Barbie’s younger toddler-aged sister. Three different face molds were created for her in 1994, including an open mouth, closed mouth, and a mouth shaped to drink from a bottle.
In Europe, Kelly was marketed as Shelly, due to an existing trademark for another toy brand.
The Kelly faces were also used for Kelly’s various different friends, including Ken’s younger brother Tommy.
Although initially produced for playline releases, Kelly also proved popular with adult collectors, leading to Mattel producing a variety of collector edition dolls.
Kelly was discontinued in 2010 and replaced with Chelsea, Barbie’s current youngest sister.
