This is a Japanese Exclusive release Barbie, that is packaged in a slim box, and is accompanied by a matching playset- sometimes being packaged together. It appears to be a Japanese-specific variation of the Sweet Treats Barbie, which also released in 1998.
Though many refer to this doll as “Baking Barbie,” it translates more closely from Japanese into “Cake Shop Barbie” (according to Google Translate).
