This is a Japanese Exclusive release Barbie playset that accompanies the Cake Shop Barbie doll of the same name. The playset sometimes came packaged with the doll, or sold separately. This playset is identical to the Barbie Bake Shop & Cafe playset which also released in 1998 (and was re-released in 2000). And the tooling of this playset would again be re-used in different colors for the Barbie Bakery Shop in 2006, which was another Japanese Exclusive.
Similarly to the doll, the only direct English translation we have of the box’s original text is taken from Google Translate. So, if anyone on the site is a native Japanese speaker and is able to give a better translation as to what the front and back of the box says- feel free to comment below!
