2001 Adria/Desiree
Originally created in 2001 by Mattel, the sculpt was intended to be used for a planned friend of Barbie’s called Adria, but the doll was never produced.
The sculpt was instead used as an AA sculpt for a number of collector dolls beginning in 2002, and later used for playline dolls.
In 2005 Mattel began to use the sculpt as the face for Desiree, Barbie’s new friend introduced under the Fashion Fever line, leading to fans nicknaming the sculpt after her.
Mattel would also begin to use the sculpt for Barbie’s friend Nikki in the 2010s, replacing the Asha face as the standard sculpt for AA dolls.
