Barbie Basics
The Barbie Basics line encourages the adult collector to customize and play.
43 dolls were released as part of this series between 2009 – 2011,
and an additional 14 dolls in 2025 for the line’s 15th anniversary.
The line consists of 57 Black Label dolls and 16 Black Label fashion packs.
Collection 001, released in November 2009, features 12 numbered models each in a little black dress, and 4 fashion packs to accessorize.
Collection 001.5, released in June 2010, added 4 dolls and 2 fashion packs.
Collection Red, a Target exclusive, had two releases, in September 2010 and July 2011. Each release included 3 dolls and 1 fashion pack.
Collection 002, released in January 2011, included 9 female models and 3 male models sporting denim jeans, and 4 fashion packs.
Collection 002.5, released in August 2011, added 3 dolls in denim looks dressed up with glittery tops and accessories, along with 2 glam fashion packs.
Collection 003, released in November 2011, featured 6 swimsuit models along with 2 fashion packs.
Series 1, released in March 2025, featured 5 numbered models each in a little black dress. The bodies have a new neck connector to make head swapping easier. Note: The model numbering in this series does not correspond to the face sculpts used in the earlier Barbie Basics Collections.
You Create Barbie Basics, revealed at the Mattel Creations REVEALED virtual event 2025 livestream on March 6 2025, featured 3 kits of 3 dolls each with the same skin tone, that also match a doll from Series 1. Each kit contains 3 different types of Made-To-Move bodies, 3 bald heads – all new face sculpts, 3 wigs, and multi-piece outfits and accessories to mix and match.
