The Movie Moana came out in 2016, which was during the time Hasbro had the license to make Disney princess dolls. As such the first Moana dolls made by Mattel were released in 2023 when Mattel got the Disney license back from Hasbro.
Moana officially joined the Disney Princess line-up in 2019.
Moana 2 was released in 2024, to promote the film Mattel released various dolls, including dolls of Maui, Simea, Loto and Matangi.
As of May, 2025, 11 Moana dolls have been released.
