Insect Cafe
Insect Cafe (虫虫咖啡厅) was released via the crowdfunding platform Modian, notable for the stylized chunky proportions that hadn’t yet been seen in the Chinese blind box doll market. Each box included an identification card, an array of alternate hands, clothes designed to acommodate their larger limbs, and magnetic wings and a tail that plugged into their back.
Additionally released as a stretch goal in the Modian campaign was a doll sold on an individual cardback, chosen by a fan vote of a selection of designs by [x] inspired by fan suggestion. As Panda Mantis comes pre-dressed in black and Insect Cafe are susceptible to dye transfer, many arrived with some level of staining.
Made In Heaven later released two standalone dolls in the series on individual cardbacks via Chinese social media platform Little Red Book, starting sale in June 2024 and scheduled to ship in x. Featuring designs from a new artist, they feature dolls from the base series with a new theme and the hidden’s unique wings and tail.
