Pretty Cure

Introduction

Pretty Cure, often shortened to PreCure, is a Magical Girl anime franchise by Toei Animation. The series began in 2004, with Futari wa PreCure (Together We Are PreCure), and has been releasing new installments since, typically focusing on a new cast of characters each year. Two seasons, Smile PreCure! and Doki Doki! PreCure, are well known internationally for being released on Netflix under the title Glitter Force.

As a Doll Franchise

The main doll line for the franchise is known as Pretty Cure Style, produced by Japanese toy company Bandai. The original line began in 2005 and ran only until 2006. The line remained dormant until the franchise’s 15th anniversary celebration in 2018, reviving the line for Hugtto! PreCure, and is still running as of 2023. There are also many other companies who have made PreCure dolls, both domestically and internationally. These companies include Azone, Young Toys (South Korea), and GiG (Italy).
