Project Mc2 is a team of four super-smart and seriously cool girls who use their love of science and their spy skills as they go on missions for secret organization, NOV8 (that’s “innovate”!). And now there are two new recruits! They’re real girls with real skills ready to take on anything. Watch new episodes of the Project Mc2 original series, only on Netflix! Now you can perform an experiment at home with Adrienne Attoms, Project Mc2’s resident culinary chemist (yes, it’s a thing!). Make your own bath fizz using safe household ingredients like baking soda, citric acid and vanilla. Usually, you use the classic reaction of baking soda (a base) and vinegar (an acid) to create carbon dioxide gas bubbles. This time, we use citric acid instead of vinegar because it is a solid. You can now pre-mix it with baking soda, mold it into a ball, and then activate it later by putting the ball in water to create fizzy bubbles. The other ingredients — such as vanilla, glitter, sprinkles, and food colouring – just make your bath more relaxing and fun.

Wanna learn how to do Adrienne’s Bath Fizz experiment? We’ve got all the details you need:

What you’ll need for this experiment:

  • Bath fizz container and measuring spoons from Adrienne’s Bath Fizz set
  • Large Bowl
  • Baking Soda
  • Citric Acid Powder
  • Epsom Salt
  • Spray Bottle with Water
  • Measuring Cup
  • Baking Sprinkles
  • Vanilla Scented Oil or Extract
  • Shea Oil or Olive Oil
  • Food Coloring
  • Glitter

Let’s begin!

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda, 1/2 cup of citric acid, and 1/2 cup of Epsom salt.
  2. Once combined, add 1 teaspoon of shea or olive oil. Knead the mixture with your hands to get rid of any lumps.
  3. Add about 8 drops of vanilla scented oil or 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and knead until the mixture is combined.
  4. Add a few drops of food coloring and as much glitter as desired. Mix well.
  5. Add water to a spray bottle and spray the mixture. Add only enough water to squeeze the mixture tightly into a shape without it crumbling.
  6. Open the bath fizz container by turning the two sides of the bow apart from each other.
  7. Place sprinkles into both halves of the container and tightly pack the mixture on top with your hands. Fill both sides to the top.
  8. Carefully close both halves of the container and press firmly together to close the bow. Allow the fizz to sit for at least 12 hours.
  9. Remove the bath fizz from the container by loosening it from the sides. Place it in your bath tub for a scented, colorful bath experience!

Important information:

  • Before you use the fizz in the bath, it is recommended that you perform a small patch test. Place a small amount of the mixture on the inside of your wrist. If there is no staining or irritation after five minutes, the bath fizz is safe to use in your bath
  • Do not store bath fizz in an airtight container as pressure buildup could lead to injury.
  • Do not allow bath fizz to come into contact with eyes or mouth. Bath fizz is not edible.
  • Rinse bathtub thoroughly after use to remove any coloration from food coloring gliter or sprinkles.
  • Wash hands and body after use.

These instructions have been lifted near-directly from the doll’s original manual. Please take care when attempting experiments and be sure to prepare your surroundings for any possible stains or mess.
