Wanna learn how to do Adrienne’s Lemon Soap experiment? We’ve got all the details you need:

What you’ll need for this experiment:

  • Soap mold and cutter from Adrienne’s Lemon Soap set
  • Yellow food colouring
  • Lemon extract
  • Soap-making soap base
  • Microwave-safe bowl
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Spray bottle
  • Knife
  • Heat insulating gloves

Let’s begin!

  1. Place the soap cutter in the soap mold and align the wedges.
  2. Place 1/4 cup of a soap-making soap base in a microwave-safe bowl. Then, microwave the soap for 10 seconds at a time, stirring in between, until the soap is completely melted. Always wear heat insulating gloves, as contents are hot!
  3. Add a few drops of yellow food coloring and a few drops of lemon extract. Stir well.
  4. Fill a spray bottle with rubbing alcohol and spritz the soap mold and cutter to prevent bubbles from forming.
  5. Pour the mixture into the wedges and fill the rind (outer ring) about half way
  6. Spray the mixture with rubbing alcohol to remove bubbles.
  7. Allow the mixture to cool completely. Refrigerate if necessary.
  8. Press the mixture out of the base and remove the wedges from the soap cutter.
  9. Add the rind and wedges back into the mold without the soap cutter. Use the design inside the mold as a placement guide for the wedges.
  10. Melt 2 tablespoons of soap and pour over the wedges and rind up to the edge of the mold. Do not mix in food coloring. Spray with alcohol again if desired.
  11. Allow the mixture to cool completely. Refrigerate if necessary.
  12. Push the entire soap out of the mold.
  13. Ask an adult to slice off the bumpy end for clean edges on your soap. Now, it’s ready to use!

Important information:

  • Only use soap on hands and body. Keep away from eyes. In case of eye contact, rinse eyes with water.
  • Wash hands thoroughly after playing.
  • Discontinue use if irritation or rash develops.
  • Only use soap-making soap base for this experiment. Do not use commercial bath or hand soap.
  • Read instructions on household items before use.
  • Monitor closely while melting soap with a microwave. Do not overheat the soap base to prevent spillage of melted soap. Stop heating if spillage occurs.
  • Make sure the microwave is properly cleaned and well ventilated after experimenting.
  • Keep food coloring away from clothing to prevent staining.
  • Colour transfer may occur from food coloring onto skin.
  • Mixture may not be completely removed from the inside of the soap cutter or soap mold after washing.
  • Rinse the cutter and soap mold with warm water and mild dish soap.
  • Air dry the cutter and soap mold in a well-ventilated area before storing.

These instructions have been lifted near-directly from the doll’s original manual. Please take care when attempting experiments and be sure to prepare your surroundings for any possible stains or mess.
