Rugrats

A baby’s gotta do, what a baby’s gotta do! –Tommy Pickles

On August 11, 1991, Nickelodeon aired a brand new children’s show, Rugrats. Despite having a three year hiatus, the show is considered a massive success.
Rugrats was written and produced at Klasky Csupo in Los Angeles, California. The show follows the adventures of Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, Angelica, Susie, and, eventually, Dil and Kimi. The series is loved for its inclusivity, progression, and writing.
Rugrats deals mostly with the babies and toddlers, but also focuses on the adults of the world as well. Stu, Didi, and Grandpa Lou are most often shown on screen, as the adventures often take place at the Pickles residence.
The series ran until August 1st, 2004, ending with a whopping nine seasons, three theatrical releases, and multiple book series. It also saw a spin-off show titled All Grown Up. A T.V. special that showed the characters 10 years in the future in honor of the show’s 10th anniversary titled All Growed Up served as the pilot episode. A spin-off featuring Angelica and Susie titled Preschool Daze was planned and aired four episodes, but was cancelled due to poor reception.
Rugrats was recently revived in 2021.
