Interview with Dollect Volunteer : PhantomRoyalty

Introduce yourself!

Hi! I’m Phantom, pronouns He/They/She. I am primarily on the Barbie team but I work on multiple smaller doll lines too. I also run the official Dollect Tumblr account!

What do you collect?

Mostly Barbie, spefically new era Fashionistas. I love them, boxy dresses and all! I also collect Miraculous Ladybug, Naturalistas and Latinistas. All my collection lists are public if anyone wants to exactly which dolls I own.

When and why did you join the volunteer team?

I joined the team the first week after Dollect went public. I wanted to put up ALL of the Barbie Fashionistas! And I did it! It took months of work but I loved it!

Out of everything you have done so far, what is your favorite part?

Definitely Kawaii Crush! But more spefically, the Unreleased section of Kawaii Crush. I had just spent days searching everywhere I could think of to find as many stock photos as I could. I had finished everything else, each dolls page, the landing, even a temporary banner. I honestly thought I had every possible piece of info about Kawaii Crush. I was about to move on to something else when I decided to try and see if I could find a higher quality logo for the graphics team. That’s when I saw it, a search result named “Kawaii Crush Glitter Glam Hotel Toy” on Behance.net.
Worried, I clicked on the link, thinking I missed something. Instead I found the commercial now hosted on the Kawaii Crush landing page! It felt like I struck gold! I immediately made a Behance account to message the person who shared it but kept my hopes low since they hadn’t logged on in years. They still haven’t messaged me back but I am super thankful to them regardless. If they didn’t post this commercial this piece of doll history would have likely been lost forever!

What are you planning on doing next?

Right now I am working with rest of the Barbie team to update the Barbie Year pages to a new more useful format. After that probably finish putting up Bright Fairy Friends. But who knows for sure, there so many distracting things on my want to do list!
