Kurhn: World Famous Painting Series Doll Mini Review

So excited to finally be able to show off my newest Kurhn doll! She’s from the World Famous Painting Series that was just released this February. There are three dolls in the series, two based off of paintings by Dutch artist Johannes Vermeer (1632–1675): “Girl with a Pearl Earring,” as well as “The Milkmaid”. The third, and the one I ended up getting, is supposedly based off of Dutch fashion during Vermeer’s time. I ended up purchasing her from the official Kurhn store on Aliexpress for $44 USD plus shipping.

Here she is in all her glory. She comes packaged in a pristine white box which I believe is standard for collector Kurhn dolls like herself. Only held in the box by three plastic ties around her legs, waist, and neck, she was super easy to pop out! In this picture I show everything that came with our doll. The doll herself, a stand, a basket of flowers, an extra outfit, and an envelope of pictures and certificates. Let’s take a look at the extras first.

Here’s everything included in the envelope. We’ve got some certificates of authenticity, and a card with her picture. They’re all printed on a very nice, thick paper. The card could be cute to display with her.

The extra outfit consists of a PJ-like set with a tank top and shorts. The fabric on these pieces is really nice. The stripes you see in the image are woven into the material itself. Both pieces close with Velcro at the back, and the shorts have elastic at the leg holes to give them some poofy-ness. Overall the set is cute and it’s a nice addition. It would most likely just be something I would put on another doll, though, as I prefer the outfit she comes packaged in.

Like all the other Kurhn stands I have, this stand holds the doll by her legs. Initially, I was concerned by how small it was; the other Kurhn stands I have have a much thicker base, and I was worried this stand wouldn’t be able to hold the doll well. However, as you can see in the other images, it does the job just fine. Her basket is also pictured closer here. It is a real wicker basket with the flowers being made out of paper. The flowers can also be removed from the basket if you just want your doll to hold a bouquet. The doll holds the basket well and it’s a very cute addition to the whole look.

The doll herself comes packaged in a yellow lace collared top, a blue knee-length skirt with a singular under-layer of tulle, a white apron with lace and embroidered details, a thin pair of underwear, some brown boots, and a magnificent fabric hat. She’s fully articulated with joints at the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, chest, hips, and knees. All of the joints seem to get a very good range of motion, the knees being able to hit about a 95-100 degree angle.

Her shoes are unpainted. It’s kind of a bummer, but the rest of the doll is so nice, I don’t mind. The shoe sculpt itself is also very cute.

Her hair is soft and beautifully styled right out of the box; no gel. I’m not great at telling doll hair types, but like I said, the hair is quite soft and feels very nice to the touch. The hair blend is a pretty mix of what seems to be two different colors.

Overall, I am absolutely in love with her. She’s everything I hoped for and more. Her outfit quality is top-notch, I love her design, her hair is beautiful and soft, and I’m pleasantly surprised with all of the extras. I’m also super impressed considering the price point of $44 USD. A fantastic price for this quality in my opinion.
