I just found this 14 inch composition doll at a thrift sale last week for only $6 (the lady told me the dolls were priced to sell). She is marked ALEXANDER on the back of her head, so she’s a Madame Alexander. She came with a beautiful handmade spring-green cotton dress with purple ric-rac and white lace trim with a matching bonnet and shawl-bolero, a white petticoat, and cream silk bloomers. I believe the clothes were handmade, and her wig looks/feels new. I’m from Louisiana so this may be a Mardi Gras inspired costume (judging by the colors). Her face is beautiful with no fading and only a few hairline cracks. After some research, I think she looks the most similar to a M.A. Karen Ballerina doll (see last photo), and she is likely from the late 40s-early 50s. She’s one of the oldest dolls I own, and I’m so happy to have found her! I’d love to see more older dolls appreciated here.

If I had to guess I’d say I think she has a Margaret face, super beautiful! And the outfit made for her is gorgeous!
Thank you! I was thinking Margaret as well.
