Probably my favorite line of dolls growing up were Ty Girlz! Created by the Ty company (the same ones who make Beanie Babies), this line of plush dolls came out between 2007 to 2013 with an accompanying digital world.
I was absolutely obsessed with them as a kid. They’re really underrated, I never see anybody talking about them! I’m guessing they weren’t very popular even back in the day because information about them is scarce. I hope they can be added onto the site someday, I’d love to catalogue them. (I’m very technologically illiterate otherwise I’d submit things myself lol)
I still have the ones from my childhood, once I can get them out of storage I’ll post a collection pic. I’m unsure what their hair material is (but it very easily got tangled and knotted), but I remember their clothes being decently nice quality.
I recall there were two body types for the dolls, two pictured above: The earlier dolls were very noodle-y. They were a hassle to try and get them to stay in a sitting position, so often during playtime they’d be lying on the ground, all limp looking.
The later revamped dolls had some kind of wire in the body, making it possible to pose them! They could finally sit, and you could bend their arms and legs.
(The noodle variant is on the left, while a posable one is on the right. You can easily tell the difference between the two with some visual differences. For example, the noodle Ty Girlz were a bit taller and had thinner heads/faces, while the posable Ty Girlz were shorter and wider.)
The accompanying website is sadly lost media for the most part. You could play games, dress up your avatar, decorate your house, customize a profile (within their limits), watch animated webisodes, and chat with others! I met one of my very first online friends through our shared interest in Ty Girlz.
Let me know if you had any Ty Girlz, which ones you had, and if you played on the site like I did! I’d love to find others who have the same love for these dolls.
Hey wait a minute I know the red haired (?) one, I remember a cousine of mine having her when I was a kid! I never knew those were an actual doll line and not some bootlegs 😭 Thanks for sharing, I’d definitely would love to learn more about them!
I’ve seen people list them as ‘Bratz plush’ on Ebay and stuff LOL
Thank you for reading and commenting!! :3 I’m glad to spread the knowledge
I need these so bad ngl
