I bought Monster Ball Clawdeen recently. I felt guilty for getting her due to the overconsumerism of doll collecting really getting to me. I still decided to bond with her like I usually do with my other dolls including trying to adjust her face up to my liking since I bought small brushes for whole doll face ups.
First, here’s the doll as a whole:
I hate the top knot they keep getting her so I took it down. This was also my first time dealing with curly saran(?) and her hair was pretty frizzy and knotted from the start, thus a boil wash. I’m not entirely sure if I’ll keep her hair like this or maybe try and style it/curl it. I do think that hair accessory makes a good necklace/choker for other dolls so I’m keeping it.
As I usually do, I paint the details on the shoes and a little bit of a pedicure. I was worried that I wouldn’t like how it would turn out and I’m glad I was wrong. I didn’t have a paint that matched the moon phases so I had to mix my own that was close enough.
My main gripe with MB Clawdeen’s makeup is how it doesn’t fit with the rest of her color scheme. Her eye makeup also is mostly reused from previous dolls, which has that bit of blue that just doesn’t fit with the color scheme. I do like the idea of the lip liner but, since seeing her and Lagoona in store, the printing is off and the liner is always thicker. I decided to darken the makeup a bit (similar to Clawdeen’s upcoming refresh doll) and try my best to make it match her outfit. I should’ve watered down the paints a bit more for a smoother finish but it’s not as bad in real life unless I’m being picky.
