Kat Alyst posted in the group Monster High Customs
Thought it might be fun to say hello to the Monster High Customs group with a recent fun photo. Hello hello lovely artists, I’m Kat, pleased to meet you! Last month, my friend Lauren (splendidmiscellany on instagram) hosted a collaboration for angel and demon dolls. I’ve made a number of both before, usually tied to my favorite indie mascot horror game, Bendy and the Ink Machine, but I wanted to try my hand at something original. I’d just gotten some plastic wings to make a Christmas angel for my sister as a tree topper, so I had a bunch leftover and figured, hey, why not put them to good use? This is my angel, Cirrus. She’s a G1 Rochelle Goyle that was missing an arm. Cirrus has been hiding away in the form of a statue, watching over a village for hundreds of years, but she’s recently broken out. I really love the way kintsugi looks, so she’s got some golden cracks on various parts of her body. Usually I go to the trouble of sewing all my own clothes, but because of the wings, most of my patterns weren’t gonna be an easy fit. So I went to my stock and modified an old Barbie dress to suit her. It’s okay to take it easy sometimes, there’s no shame in using a premade piece now and again as it suits a project. Cirrus is a sweetie, I had so much fun photographing her.
