Collector and Doll admirer
"I love history... everything is inspired by history, so that's why I love vintage and antiques."- Kelly Wearstler
Hey, I am Syd! Every thing has a story, that is why I love the thrift shop. I can walk there for hours, just admiring everything, picturing its story. Maybe that is why I love dolls! I love all dolls, porcelain and ceramic dolls, fashion dolls, collector dolls and so much more! I had so much dolls as a kid, Calico Critters, Ever After High, littlest pet shop, Neopets, Beanie Babies, Barbies, and monster high! Did I mention Monster high? Monster high WAS my childhood, ironically when I was younger I just felt different and Monster Highs whole message was embracing those differences that's why I felt so connected to them! With those dolls, I felt like I could truly embrace my Freakishly-fabulous-flaws!!!
"One of the things that attracts me to vintage and antique things is they have stories, and even if I don't know the stories, I make them up." -Mary Kay Andrews
Saddly, all my childhood dolls are gone. During the pandemic, I thought I was too old for my toys and gave them all away. I still regret it to this day, but in July of 2022 I was in a antique shop and came across a pair of Barbie and Ken: Beach Blast! I fell in love! Something about the 80s orange-tan and Barbies genuine smile pulled me in, that's when I started collecting!
"I love trawling through markets and vintage shops, and I make super-quick decisions about buying clothes. I also have my usual haunts I go to when in specific cities." -Alice Timperley
My current collection in chronological order
I do have porcelain dolls, that I have no idea when they were made. All I know is that one of them was made in the 80s, and she is a genuine Gepetto doll. The other one is a one of a kind(?) collectors choice porcelain doll. I say one of a kind because I got her from my grandmother, and I can find nothing about her online, and the box has the certicate of authentication, but no informationg on the year, product number. I know the name of her doll designer, but that does not help. So if anyone knows information about collectors choice, please contact me.
