Claudie Wells, 1922

Claudie is a young girl from Harlem, New York during the 1920s. She is the eighteenth Historical Characters, introduced by American Girl in 2022.

She represents the Harlem Renaissaince and the Great Migration of the 1920s.

Claudie is a young girl surrounded by new ideas and art. Her parents moved from Georgia during the Great Migration to Harlem, and she befriends many of the musicians and artists who live in the boarding house with her and her family. Claudie worries that she doesn’t have a special talent like everyone around her, but learns to see her own strengths, especially as a storyteller.

She is so far the second American girl to be released on a centenial anniversary of when her story takes place, being released in 2022 and taking place in 1922.
