Cécile Rey is a young girl from New Orleans, Louisiana in the 1850s. She was the eleventh Historical Character, introduced by American Girl in 2011 alongside Marie-Grace.
She represents New Orleans in the 1850s being at the forefront of change for Black Americans.
Cécile, called Cécé by her family, is from a well-to-do family for free African Americans. She is confident and outgoing. She loves to be the center of attention and being an original. However, she is also kind and caring, taking time to teach Marie-Grace French and spending time with the elderly residents of La Maison. She loves parties and dancing, and dreams of one day being on stage.
She was the first Historical Character to share her collection with another character, Marie-Grace Gardner.
She, Marie-Grace and their collection was retired in 2014 before the Beforever revival.

Marie-Grace is a young girl from New Orleans, Louisiana in the 1850s. She was the twelfth Historical Character, introduced by American Girl in 2011 alongside Cécile Rey.
She represents New Orleans in the 1850s being at the forefront of change of Black Americans.
Marie-Grace recently moved to New Orleans with her father following the deaths of her mother and little brother. She grew up constantly moving from city to city, and isn’t used to setting down roots or making friends. She is very shy and introverted. She She is practical and good at mathematics. She loves singing and helping her father with his work as a doctor.
She was the first Historical Character to share her collection with another character, Cécile Rey.
She, Cécile and their collection was retired in 2014 before the Beforever revival.
