My country is easy to find on the map. It looks like a boot. Italy is very beautiful and the people are friendly. We grow lots of wheat here. It is made into pasta (spaghetti and macaroni). Italy has many famous cities. One is Venice. Its streets are canals with boat traffic instead of car traffic. Another city is Rome, the capital of Italy. You can see ancient ruins like the Colosseum, where gladiators fought. Rome has many churches, fountains, outdoor markets and statues. The Pope lives in Vatican City. There, Michaelangelo, one of the greatest artists of all time, did paintings on the ceiling of a chapel. Florence is the art capital of Italy. The city of Pisa has a famous tower that leans to one side. Off the coast of Italy is an island called Sardina, where the name “sardine” comes from. I hope you can visit my country. You won’t want to leave! Arrivederci!
