G’day! (Hello) from Australia, the land down under (south of the equator)! The climate in Australia is hot, especially where I live, in the rugged outback (central desert). Most of us live on cattle stations (ranches), far from stores and schools. Many outback children tune-in to school on radio so they can learn right in their own homes! The outfit I’m wearing is typical of an outback jillaroo (female rancher). My wide-brim hat shades my face, my skirt is lacy, and exploring is easy in my Aussie (Australian) boots! Australia has amazing wildlife found nowhere else in the world! Look closely and you might spot a cuddly koala or kookaburra bird perched in a tree, a kangaroo with a joey (baby) in her pouch, or a duck-billed platypus! The majority of Aussies live in cities. The largest city is Sydney. It’s famous for its beautiful harbor and modern skyline. Canberra is our capital city, home of Australian government and spectacular parks! Come, experience the most warm and wonderful place this side of the equator! Cheerio, (Good-bye) mates!
