Sa-Wad-dee! (Hello!) I’m Thai Barbie. I live in a beautiful country, rich in history and full of wonderful animals and plants! When you come to Thailand (Prathet Thai), visit the capital city of Bangkok. It’s a very busy place with over eleven million people! Try to stop at one of over 400 Buddhist temples and monasteries there. The most spectacular is Wat Phra Kaeo, part of the Grand Palace grounds. Inside the Wat is the Emerald Buddha, a giant Buddha carved out of green jade. Many exotic animals like rhinoceros, leopards, elephants and monkeys live in the jungles and forests of Thailand. You might even have an animal from Thailand in your home! The Siamese cat came from Thailand, which used to be called Siam! My beautiful costume is created from the ceremonial clothing we wear to perform a traditional dance, called the Lacon. In this dance, every hand and head movement has a meaning. My headdress resembles a golden Wat (temple). My shiny green cape has golden and red highlights and my multicolored skirt has a golden belt and sash. I have golden bracelets on each arm and my feet are bare, just like a real Thai dancer! There is so much to see and do in Thailand. I hop you can come visit me soon. Sa-Wad-dee! (Good-bye!)
