Hola! (Hello!) I’m Peruvian Barbie and I’m proud to welcome you to one of the most beautiful and mysterious countries in South America. Travelers love to visit our lush, green jungles, sandy beaches and tall mountains because of their beauty. The adventurous come to explore ancient craters caused by erupting volcanoes and the deserts, tattooed with mysterous drawings that even today remain unexplained. On your list of what not to miss, you must include Machu Picchu (home of the lost city of the Incas) and Cuzko (the capitol of the Incan Empire). The Incans (ancient Peruvian civilization of the 1500s) are the most famous, and the most fascinating, of the many developed Peruvian cultures studied by archaeologists and travelers from all over the world. For the more adventurous, perhaps you will fly high above the Nazca Lines (mysterious drawings etched on the coastal deserts.). This phenomenon was discovered long before air travel was ever invented, and yet it can only be seen in its entirety from an airplane or from high atop the mountains. Peru is also known for the unusual wool-bearing animals, llamas, alpacas, and vicunas (ruminant mammals). The vicunas wool is ssaid to be the finest wool of any animal in the world. Of course you will want to enjoy our delivious Peruvian foods, especially the wonderful smells and yummy flavors of Creole cooking (highly spicy rice dishes). For fun, we love to watch soccer and volleyball. We also love to attend festivals to dance the marinera and huaynos (two typical Peruvian dances), guaranteed to make you smile! Today I am wearing an authentic Peruvian dress and shawl in vibrant multi colors, which reflect the excitement, passion and beauty of my country. I hope you enjoyed learning about Peru.
