Oktoberfest
Over a hundred years ago in Germany, Crown Prince Ludwig married a beautiful princess named Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen. The palace invited all the citizens of Munich to observe this royal event. For 5 days, the people celebrated with eating, drinking, music, dancing, and general merrymaking! The jubilation ended with horse races in the presence of the royal family. This wedding party was so successful, it became the annual event called Oktoberfest! Today, Oktoberfest — called “die Wiesn” by Bavarians — lasts for 16 days and is the biggest festival in the world! Rows of tents offer food, drink, and spectacular entertainment. Outside, children love the carousels, roller coasters, and other rides. One pretty, blonde girl is very excited to join Oktoberfest. She will wear her dimdi, a traditional German folk costume, while many boys will be dressed in lederhosen. She loves this wonderful festival, and especially the glorious gardens outside the tents. Designed by Katiana Jimenez, Oktoberfest Barbie doll captures all the joy of the legendary German celebration!
