Welcome to Hawaii! This is the newest of our 50 states, and the only one made up entirely of islands. If you come visit, you’ll be greeted with a lei, a wreath of flowers that you wear like a necklace. I wear a lei when I do the hula; this beautiful dance tells traditional Hawaiian stories. Hula music is great, too, and is often played on the ukulele. Whenever I can, I hit the beaches with my board and surf. People have been surfing here for hundreds of years. Surfing was once a sport only for Hawaiian royalty; it’s still called the “sport of kings.” I hope you can visit beautiful Hawaii one day! Love, Barbie
