Introduction
Beyblade is a multimedia franchise by Japanese toy company Takara Tomy which began in 1999, primarily focused on the titular battle tops. In 2001, the Bakuten Shoot Beyblade anime series premiered, and it would be followed by Metal Fight Beyblade in 2009, Beyblade Burst in 2016, and Beyblade X in 2023. It’s kinda like Pretty Series but with tops instead of singing and dancing.
As a Doll Franchise
Beyblade is more linked to the doll world than you may realize. Bakuten Shoot‘s lead Kinomiya Takao (known as Tyson Granger in the west) first met Licca-chan in 2003’s DreamMix TV World Fighters, a fighting game featuring many of Takara’s characters. However, prior to that in 2002, Licca-chan actually received her very own Beyblade via a Takara shareholder’s benefit gift set.
Outside of Licca-chan, Takao would also receive his own “doll” some time in 2001, which also doubled as a Beyblade launcher. After the first generation, dolls would become very rare. The only ones since have all been unlicensed products.

Okay, but I really liked Mariah as a kid and would’ve paid big money for a doll.
I’m just looking at this now, and seeing the extra troll of calling bakugan the same thing as beyblade burst because beyblade fans and bakugan fans are like pokemon fans and digimon fans.
