Emily Bennett, 1944

Emily is a young girl from London England who moves in with Molly’s family to escape the London Blitz. She was the third Best friend doll introduced to the Historical Characters line, introduced by American Girl in 2006.

She is the best friend, Molly McIntire.

Emily had to flee from London like many children to escape the London Blitz. She was supposed to live with an Aunt, but ended up with the McIntires when that fell through. She and Molly didn’t initially get along, because they had clashing personalities and cultural differences. The girls had also expected each other to be like in the movies. Emily is shy and reserved, and takes time to warm up to people. She is very homesick at first but gets more comfortable with Molly and her family over time. Emily and Molly were both retired in 2013, and while Molly has since returned, it seems highly unlikely that Emily will.
