

Kit Kittredge, 1934
Kit is a young girl from Cincinati during the Great Depression. She was the seventh Historical Characters, introduced by American Girl in 2000.
She represents the Great Depresion Era. Her stories often highlight the difficulties regular families faced, as well as ways to save money and “waste not, want not”.
Kit is a bright young girl who aspires to be a reporter. When her father loses his job, she struggles with some of the new changes that her family must do to keep afloat. Her house becomes a boarding house, they start raising chickens to sell eggs, and must impliment clever techniques to save money. Kit is a tomboy who loves baseball, the outdoors, and adventure. She idolizes Amelia Earhart and wants to make her own way as a reporter. She is very inquisitive and clever, and is resoursful with a go-getter attitude.
Her best friend, Ruthie Smithens, was also produced as a doll.
Kit was initially archived in 2008, before being revamped in 2014 as part of the Befoever line, and then rereleased in 2023 with her original collection to celebrate the character’s 100th birthday.
