The Mattel Winx Club dolls debuted in 2004 until around 2009. The dolls were released at the same time as the Giochi Preziosi Winx Club dolls. Although the Mattel dolls were created for an American audience, they saw more international success and were sold in many other countries. Some of the later lines of dolls were excluded from US release. Mattel created dolls only for the first three seasons of Winx Club with season 4 dolls not being made for the American audience until Jakks Pacific in 2012.
Many Mattel Winx Club dolls are very coveted by collectors and are sold for high prices on the second hand market.
As for the story of who designed these dolls at Mattel, we don’t know whose team is behind them but we know that the creator of Monster High Garret Sander that started working at Mattel as a packaging designer, worked on the Winx Club packaging since the beginning of the brand.
The Mattel Winx Club line up include a total of 39 different releases, 128 normal scale dolls, One 17″ inches doll, 19 pixie dolls, 4 styling heads, 9 playsets, 4 different fashion packs, 11 Mini Magical releases.
Season 1 / First edition was released in 2004. They represent the Magic Winx transformation from seasons 1-3 as well as the civilian outfits from Season 1-2 of Winx Club. There are 7 characters represented this line, the Winx Club girls with Icy and Sky.
Pixie Magic was released in 2005. They represent the Magic Winx transformation from Season 1-3 of Winx Club. The dolls come with their Pixies from Season 2 of Winx Club. There are 7 characters represented. The differences from Season 1 / first edition dolls is that Pixie Magic feature rooted eyelashes, less accessories and their Pixie. Icy’s accessories stay the same in both versions. This line also feature a magic wand with two exclusive pixies that any pixie from this collection can use.
Dance Night was originally released in 2004 as a fashion pack. Then it got released as actual dolls in 2005. They represent the formal outfits from Season 1 of Winx Club with Layla’s outfit being reused from a Fashion pack. There are 6 characters represented.
The Fairy Cool Lounge was released in 2004. Then in 2005 it got rereleased with an exclusive Bloom doll. This playset represents the Alfea bedrooms from the show.
Flutter Magic was released in 2005. The dolls represent the Magic Winx transformation from seasons 1-3 of Winx Club as well as original outfits used as second outfits only used in merchandise and art from season 2. There are 3 characters represented. These dolls flutter their wings thanks to their base.
The Season 2 series was released in 2005. They represent the civilian outfits from Season 2 of Winx Club. There are three characters represented. These dolls were rereleased with different accessories for season 3. Fun fact, they were in the same assortment as the Shopping dolls.
Shopping was released in 2005. The dolls represent the civilian outfits worn in Gardenia from season 2 of Winx Club. Fun fact, they were in the same assortment as the Season 2 School Girl dolls.
Singsational Magic was released in 2005. Some of the dolls represent the outfits from the finale of season 2 of Winx Club. Bloom in this doll line is wearing the dress that Aisha wears in the finale and Musa’s dress is from a different episode. The dolls can sing thanks to their bases original songs from the 4Kids Winx Club dub.
Denim was released in 2006. The dolls represent outfits only seen in Winx Club merchandise and in the magazines. Giochi Preziosi also produced these outfits. There are five characters represented.
Biker was released in 2007. The dolls represent the biking outfits from Season 3 of Winx Club. There are six characters represented as well as a second unique release of Bloom that came with a playset.
Glam Magic was released in 2007. The dolls represent the Enchantix transformation from Season 3 of Winx Club. There are six characters represented + a Dressing room playset including an exclusive Bloom.
Millenium Regal Lights was released in 2007. The dolls represent the princess ball outfits from the Secret of the Lost Kingdom movie. There are 4 characters represented. This line is known as either “Millenium” or “Regal Lights” since they have a crown on their heads that lights up.
Color Magic was released in 2007. The dolls represent the Enchantix transformation from Season 3 of Winx Club. There are three characters represented. These dolls were released for the Secret of the Lost Kingdom movie and were on the same assortment as Nymph Daphne.
Sing and Sparkle was released in 2007. The dolls represent the Enchantix transformation from Season 3 of Winx Club. There are four characters represented. These dolls can sing thanks to bottoms on their wings.
Pixie Flight was released in 2007. The dolls represent the Enchantix transformation from Season 3 of Winx Club. There are three characters represented. Fun Fact, there was a mistake and Stella and Flora comes with their pixies switched.
Picnic was released in 2008. The dolls represent outfits only seen in a similar release of the Giochi Preziosi dolls. There are five characters represented though Musa was shown in promotional imagery. These dolls were only released in Europe.
Concert was released in 2009. The dolls represent outfits unused in any official Winx Club media. There are five characters represented, Tecna was only used in promotional pictures but never released. Fun Fact, Tecna’s shoes were found back in the day on Aliexpress. These dolls were only released in Russia. This was the last line from Winx by Mattel.
Fairy Fabulous bloom was released in 2007. She represents her Enchantix transformation from season 3 of Winx Club. This doll is 17″ inches tall. Shes the only Tall/Big Winx doll by Mattel.
The Magic Makeover Collection was released in 2006. The styling heads represent the Magic Winx transformation from seasons 1-3 of Winx Club. There are four characters represented, Bloom is an interactive styling head. There’s also a sublime from Magic Makeover including the pixies.
Sparkle Pixies Collection was released in 2008. This line is exclusively by Pixies, it’s one of the most rare collections to come by from the whole Winx Club line by Mattel since there’s little to no info about them with the Pixie Cottage collection, they were released in some countries in Europe.
Pixie Cottage Also know as Pixie village Collection was released in 2008. This line is exclusively by Pixies, it’s one of the most rare collections to come by from the whole Winx Club line by Mattel since there’s little to no info about them with the Sparkle Pixie collection, they were released in some countries in Europe.
Magical Minis Collection was released in 2004. This line feature the only Alfea playset by Mattel.They feature the transformation and civil outfits from S1-2. Icy figure is exclusive to the Alfea playset.
Magical Fairy Friends Collection was released in December of 2005. This collection its an assortment of 6 mini plushies from about 4-5 inches long and about the same height that were introduced in the series as background characters in season 2.
Besides dolls, Mattel also produced some Winx toys such as the Jewerly Box Collection that was released in 2007. The Kiko Plush and the Magic Talking Fairy Plates Playset that both were released in 2004 and were part of the same assortment.
