

Nanea Mitchell, 1942
Nanea is a young girl living in Honolulu at the onset of the US entry into WW2. She is the sixteenth Historical Characters, introduced by American Girl in 2017. She was the third new character introduced under the Beforever banner.
She represents the begining of WW2, specifically the attack on Pearl Harbor and WW2 in Hawaii. She is also the only Pacific Islander Historical Character and the only biracial one.
Nanea is very connected to her Hawaiian culture, and loves to learn about her history and practice hula dancing. She experiences the attack on Pearl Harbor and was significanly traumatized by it. She is startled by all the changes happening to her home in the aftermath, and feels like she had to mature too quickly. Nanea loves reading and hula dancing. She is thoughtful and loves her family more than anything.
