Remco

Remco

Remco was an American company based in New Jersey, established in 1949.

Beginning with a line of walkie-talkies and expanding to remote control toys (hence the name Remco), the company would go on to manufacture diecast vehicles, puzzle games and dolls amongst other products. In 1974 the company would be acquired by Azrak-Hamway, who would continue producing toys under the Remco brand.

In 1985 they pioneered the modern wrestling action figure in the United States with their line based on the AWA (American Wrestling Association). They have also created licensed products for properties such as Batman, Star Trek, Universal Monsters and McDonaldland, as well as music acts such as The Beatles, The Monkees and Kiss.

The company was acquired from Azrak-Hamway in 1997 by Jakks Pacific, with Remco becoming a dormant brand. However, in 2023 the return of Remco’s wrestling figure line was announced in partnership with Powertown.
