Saw some other folks doing this and wanted to jump on the bandwagon. 🙂 I took a lot of these prompts from
! I’m going to omit resin BJDs from my answers here, because although I do collect them I feel like they might be a little off-topic here. Feel free to ask me any questions about my answers!Collection stats: I’ve been collecting since 2013, and I’m currently at around 300+ dolls. My collection includes Barbie, Rainbow High/Shadow High, Monster High (all gens but I prefer G1), Ever After High, American Girl, Fisher Price My Friend dolls, Irwin Sailor Moon, Vintage Strawberry Shortcake, Shopkins Shoppies, Pinkie Cooper, Capsule Chix, Pullip, and lots more!
Current favorite dolls in my collection: Monster High G1 Signature Ghoulia and all of my werecats, Ever After High Cerise Hood, Fisher Price My Friend Jenny, Rainbow High Monique Verbena and Meena Fleur, 2013 Classic Frozen Anna and Elsa, and all of my “pretty face” Irwin Sailor Moon dolls. 🙂
Favorite childhood dolls: AG Mia St. Clair (GoTY 2008), Barbie Sun Sensation Kira, Monster High Catty Noir, Ever After High Cerise Hood.
Current Grails: Any complete Catwalk Kitties doll (at the moment I only have heads), Rainbow High Lily Cheng, Fisher Price My Friend Nikki, any Makies doll, Dreamworks She-Ra Catra and Shadow Weaver, Pullip Vocaloid Luka, Marmit Rurufi/Rarafi, Volks 1/6 scale Dollfie Plus.
Favorite Underrated line: It’s a tie between Fisher Price My Friend Dolls and Catwalk Kitties!
Biggest doll: Probably either an American Girl or MH Gooliope Jellington. I used to have a My Size Barbie but I had to part with her because she took up too much space sadly :’)
Smallest doll: Hmm probably something in the Shoppies/Hairdorables/Capsule Chix scale!
Favorite doll traits: Anthro dolls, alien/space/sci-fi themed dolls, fantasy themed dolls, unnatural skin tones, nice hair fiber, outfits with tiny sewn on details (buttons, zipper pulls, charms, etc), dolls with pastel color schemes, dolls with neutral/earthy color schemes, unusual concepts/sculpts.
Least favorite doll traits/pet peeves: Bad hair fiber (especially polypropylene and bad nylon), overly realistic faces, inset eyes that are positioned in a way that makes the doll look vacant, badly sculpted hands, playline wigs, excessively glittery clothes, clothes made of pleather (it’s super cute but it degrades terribly!)
Favorite things to do in the hobby: secondhand doll restoration, hair styling, photography, researching obscure doll lines.
Other interests: Robotic pets (esp. Furby and FurReal Friends), Aquapets, 2D animation, The Legend of Zelda, handheld gaming consoles, lost media preservation, animals/nature/ecology. I also love to draw and I’m slowly teaching myself how to sew!
This is such a fun idea and introduction! You have a really eclectic doll collection ^_^
Thank you so much! I just can’t seem to stick to one theme or type of doll because my interest in them is so broad 😛
I loved reading about your collection! I’m with you on inset eyes — I love them when they’re done well but sometimes they make the dolls look so dead XD
I’m also so curious about “lost media presentation”! Are we talking actual physical objects (like, storing reel-to-reel tape so it doesn’t degrade) or harvesting data from old forms (like, getting the info off a floppy disk and into digital storage)?
Great post! I like a large range of dolls too
