In my post about the 2015 doll of Licca-chan’s mom (or Orie, if you’re well-versed in Licca-chan lore!), I did mention that a new doll of her was probably on the way… and this year, we got a new doll of her! She has the same identifier as the 2015 doll, LD-19, but a different name. This time, the doll’s name is おしゃれなママ (Stylish Mom).
This time, Orie is dressed for a fun afternoon out with her family. Her hair is brown and shorter than her previous iteration. It has a rather dramatic side part and some layering in the form of shorter bangs to her right that are styled in place with a significant amount of product. I’m a little afraid of what her hair will look like after I inevitably have to wash it, but for now it looks really good.
Her face mold looks the same as her previous iteration, but her face-up is significantly different. Her eyebrows are darker and her makeup is lighter. She has a very faint pink blush on her cheeks, and neon pink lipstick. Other than that, the base doll is essentially the same as the 2015 doll, except that her arms feel like they’re made of slightly higher-quality plastic.

She’s wearing a short-sleeved white top with lace details around the sleeves and neckline, and a balloon skirt with a sky blue tulle layer over a pattern of different pink, blue, and purple flowers with their stems and leaves. As you can probably see from my pictures, her necklace is unfortunately not a necklace! It’s just a string of beads that is attached to her shirt. It stops at her shoulders, and doesn’t go full circle.
Her shoes are some very chunky white sneakers with painted-on pink details. Because her shoes are pretty big, she can’t exactly use the traditional Licca-chan doll stand (she’s using one in my picture, but notice that only one foot is tucked into the stand!), and the new leg doll stand that fits all Licca dolls is recommended for her. Her earrings are round silvery studs, identical to those of the 2015 doll.
Overall, this doll is a rather realistic depiction of a Japanese Millennial mom, favoring comfort over looks, but expressing her individuality in subtler ways, through her choice of makeup, hairstyle and accessories.
The shirt and skirt are two separate pieces, and I am especially impressed with the quality of the shirt, which feels like it’s made of a material for real human clothes! This is a great quality doll for a budget price, and you can never go wrong with that!
If you’re not happy with what she’s wearing, I’m happy to report that an Orie doll is very easy to restyle. Licca-chan’s clothes may look a little short on her, but #Licca clothes fit her perfectly. She can also wear most of Barbie’s clothes, although they may fit her a little loosely.
