Ivy Ling, 1974

Ivy is a young Chinese American girl living in San Francisco in the 1970s. She was the fourth Best Friend character to be added to the Historical Characters line, introduced by American Girl in 2007.

She represents the Chinese American community, and was the second American Girl character of Aisan descent, after Jess McConnel. She is the only Asian American in the Historical in the Historical line.”

She is the best friend of Julie Albright.

Ivy is the daughter of Chinese-Americans. Her grandmother came to San Francisco through Angel Island. Ivy is initially a bit embarassed of her heritage, an the struggles with being between two cultures, but learns to be proud of her family and culture. Ivy is a gymnast and a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to her preformance. She is characterized as talented and lucky. Ivy was archived in 2014 preceding the Beforever rebrand, though Julie stayed. Ivy is unlikely to return.
