Maddie Mod is fashion doll line by the American company Mego. The line was first released under Mego’s subsidiary, Princess Grace Dolls in 1967. It started being branded as Mego in 1970.
As the name implies, Maddie Mod was made to capitalize on the new MOD look. The line largely focused on fashion packs, being promoted as fitting other popular dolls of the time like Barbie and Francie.
Maddie stands at 11 1/2″ tall. Her body is hollow with a turnable waste and her limbs are articulated with bendable wire armature.
Dolls

The original Maddie Mod had a flip hairstyle and came in an animal print bikini and a black lace cover-up. She had blue eyes, blue eye shadow and red lipstick. These dolls did not have a turn in the waist or bendable limbs, unlike later releases. The box was black, decorated with drawings of colorful bubbles and girls in Maddie’s fashionable looks.

The second wave of dolls came out in 1968, wearing pink bikinis with frills on the bottoms, white sheer cover-ups, and white pumps. They had straight hair and blunt bangs, brown eyes, blue eye shadow, and pink lips. The box was black with pink along the edges and the words “TURNING BODY” displayed across the plastic window. Some dolls came in the outfit from the Cherry Frappe fashion pack.

In 1969, Maddies wore two-piece bikinis connected by a hoop in the front with a translucent cover-up tied around the neck with a pink ribbon. They had straight hair and blunt bangs.

The 1970 Maddies came in striped bikinis with a jewel in the middle of the top and a white lace cover-up. The bikinis came in 4 colors, pink, red, yellow, and blue. They would either come with straight hair and blunt bangs or with a bubble cut. Originally the box was black with pink edges, with a panel saying “PLUS COMB, FULLY POSABLE, TURNABOUT BODY, REAL EYELASHES, ROOTED HAIR” over the window. Later, they would be packaged in a brown box with the same text written below the window.
