In 1976, Barbie was first given undoubtedly one of the most iconic face sculpts she would ever have: the Superstar sculpt. It’s namesake comes from the first doll to premiere the new sculpt, the 1977 Superstar Barbie. Now synonymous with the name “Barbie,” the Superstar face was featured on nearly 600 dolls spanning the decades up until the 90s. Now, it is mainly used for reproductions or collector edition dolls.
